He says the lineage of his love of language can be traced: “right the way from my Reception teacher whom I adored, via a department of heroes in the English department at secondary school in Coventry, to studying History at Durham and then acting at Bristol”, adding, “Oh and above all, my Mum. She never let a grammar mistake slip”.
